1813 Dec 20/23	NY Ontario Co. East Bloomfield. Enlisted in New York Militia as volunteer. Some discrepancies: William gives date as 20^th. Military records say 23^rd. Capt. William B. Hamlin’s Co. 7^th Regiment, NY Militia. Another page says the 5 Dec. William says 1^st Lt. Records say Ensign. [Source: NARA Military Service Pension Record #28095 28 June 1878 Bounty Land Grant Records from National Archives. War of 1812] Short time service prevented him from claiming Bounty Land of 160 or 40 acres. He used the following account to prove he had served long enough to be eligible for bounty land.] 13 Dec. 1813 to 6 Jan. 1814. William King insists he was discharged in Buffalo, NY without discharge papers and kept on as a "Minute Man". He fought in Battle of Black Rock, 3 miles from Buffalo.
