Revolutionary War Roll 20, 157 of the Original Muster and Pay rolls in the office of the Secretary of State. “…Captain George King of Great Barrington, with a company of forty-three men -- twenty-seven from this town – in the Regt. Of Colonel Mark Hopkins, did service at the Highlands from July 15th to August 4th 1776; travel allowed 112 miles each way. Of this Regt. Ebenezer Bement of Great Barrington was Adjutant.”

 

1777 Jan 19     NY Ticonderoga.         “Later in the same year [1776] Capt. George King commanded a company from the north part of the county, in the Regt. Of Colonel Benjamin Simonds, on duty at Ticonderoga, and died there January 19th 1777.”

1777 Jul 1        NY Canaan                  Cap. Ebeazer Grant and Lt. Juirie Mosely[unsure spelling] voted “ a man be sent to Landlord King’s at New Lebanon and make a Report how said ? inhabitants apprized the aforesaid Remonstrance” {p. 12} which had concerned Art. 3 viz “noted that every person that is an inhabitant in any district, town, or manor in this state and is a person of good character has a right and ought to have the Privilege of voting for a Governor, Deputy governor, Senate or Assembly to affirm a Constitution of form the Legislative authority of this state.” p. 12 etc. etc.

1779 Sept 29   MA Berkshire Co. Court of Common Pleas. Benjamin McCall agreed with Gideon King on sale of Benjamin’s Home, farm, saw-mill Re: {unknown word, perhaps ‘traded’} at the “Pool”. Ext.
